Music News Flash! April 10, 2010
What a great night at the Topside on Saturday night April 10th chillin to the Urban Legends live band. Carole Urban and her band buddies Dominic Zullo on base guitar and a new drummer, John Stavola spent the gig entertaining a large crowd of revelers. One is never disappointed in the performances of Carole and her supporting band. A good solid four hours of rock that holds a special remembrance for each listener. Many songs that she plays will bring us back to a long ago forgotten special moment in time.
Many of Carole’s followers, better known as the Urbanetts, were in attendance including Joan, Carol, Candy, Sherry, Patti, Joyce, Lisa, Liz and this writer. As usual a few other traveling musicians jammed in to play some music with Carole. One never knows what will happen at an Urban Legends session, all for the price of a brewski. “Beer makes you feel the way you ought to feel without beer.” Henry Lawson.
As expected the Topside has a late night kitchen that can supply you with great pub grub and Brian, the bartender, will make sure that your Devils juice will never run dry.
Carole can be seen again soon on Friday, April 23, 9-1 at the Beachcomer in Milford . She will be solo that night but you never know if a traveling minstrel will drop in for a few tunes. See you all soon.

AUG 1 2009 What an awesome performance at the Top Side Saturday night! If you drove by you could almost see the Top Side windows bow out with the live music and energy that was raised by this energetic band. Urban Legends performed to a bar packed with fans that included a large group of the ever present Urbannettes. Carole was off to a fast start that just continued to build as the night progressed. Many times upon the completion of one song the band just slid into the next one without breaking the energy. It was very apparent that the audience enjoyed the four hours of good music. Once again Carole's band played many old familiar tunes along with a surprise thrown in here and there. One never knows what they will experience with this band. Band members also sang some of their solo songs along with drummer Brian's rendition of the Billy Joel song, " You May Be Right." The energy that he put into his version of this song was totally exciting to watch and in the future may require him to be seat belted down. Band bass player, Dominic, provided his smooth vocals that had everyone paying attention. To add to the experience two jump in players Colin Krapp and Bob Van Arsedale plus Charlie with his travelling harmonica box also performed to the delight of the friendly crowd. And of course, "Whiskey Girl" was not without Carole's energy drink, a shot of chilled Canadian Club, NO ICE!
3/28/09 Wow ! Urban Legends with Carole Urban and her band rocked the walls of the Topside in Milford, Saturday March 28th. This is one fun band. The special event was cake baked by Urbanette Joan Urban for drummer Brian who celebrated his birthday. Being one year older certainly didn't slow Brian down as he sang a smooth version of, "Always on my Mind". Dominic in the background on bass supplied his special sound to round out the trio's performance of a Willie Nelson favorite. The staff at the Topside can always supply a late night order of hot wings to give you a reason to drink more beer. Special guests were the late night dancers from the Beachcomer. The song, "Saturday Night" showed the band at its best. Don't fret if you missed this rockin night at the Topside cause y'all can see Carole again Friday, April 3rd at the Windmill in Stratford. It is the audience that supplies the energy for this band. Every performance by these talented musicians is guaranteed to be entertaining and different. What version of, "Just Another Heartache" will Carole hammer out? Don't miss this fun group on April 3rd. You won't be disappointed. Staff reporter, Tuff Tony
On Saturday, January 17th 2009 the Urban Legends Band once again rocked the Topside in Milford. Carole Urban was at her usual best. She was joined by two other talented musicians. Plus guest appearance by Charlie on harmonica. Out of her magical pile of papers Carole played and sang several new songs that had everyone dancing or toe tapping. Once again Carole clearly demonstrated that she not only entertains but connects with her audience. When the last song of the evening is played you have that feeling in your heart that you have just enjoyed several hours of good live music. A deejay or jukebox can never replace a good live band whose members play off the energy of each other. Come back to this page and come to Carole Urbans next gig. Support live band music in Connecticut.
Also, always present were the Urbanetts, Joan, Winner of Habitat for Humanities coveted award," Best Volunteer" "Tony, Peppermint Patti, Carol. Candy and Noel, whose birthday was celebrated with cake and a limited amount of candles. To bad you missed the Topside drink special, the "Pineapple Bomb."

As the 1 o'clock witching hour arrived Carole and the band hammered out a version of "Saturday Night" that once agin transferred their energy to her audience. As they ended this song , one could hear the yell, More! More! which led to an encore. The best this writer could say is that this night was like one of good sex, you just didn't want it to end. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the bartender Brian put out a late night request for hot wings. Don't forget to check back here for future events.
