The orginal Love Shack
Friday night at the Beachcomer Christmas party in Milford the remarkable, Carole Urban, "Ms Thang" belted out a medley of songs to the standing room audience. She was accompanied by the one and only Brian Butler on percussion. Members of the Carole Urban Fan Club, along with club president, Joan Urban, where there for cheering support. Club secretary, "Electronic Boobs' Cher, was among the club members present. As usual, to the enjoyment of the packed crowd, Carole poured her heart and soul out in her music. It was clear that she grew on the energy of the crowd. Folks not only heard good music but were treated to the performance of an entertainer who interacts with her audience.
There was a guest appearance of one member of the dance troupe, The Stumblers, who provided some dance entertainment. It would seem that the phrase, "Dance like no one is watching" may have been coined at the Beachcomer.
We will be awaiting the next appearence of this talented music entertainer in the Southern New England region. Her next sceduled performance will be at the Windmill on January 2, 2009. The Windmill, located in Stratford, is well known for its German-American cuisine. Although it hosts an older crowd, they too appreciate good music and entertainment. See you at the next live performance of Ms. Thang.

Review of 2009 Xmas party: Music News Flash Good Christmas party at the Beachcomer Friday night. Carole Urban and Dominic played to a full house. The Beachcomer put on a good party with plenty of food and a roaring fire. Joan, Urbanett President, Peppermint Patti, Vicki Tambourine and her new friend, and this writer were on hand. Many other Beachcomer regulars were there to sip the Devil’s juice and chill to the sound of the Urban Experience. Flowery words just don’t convey the atmosphere that live performers bring to the pub crowd. It is so enjoyable just to be a spectator and watch all who will venture onto the dance floor to express what the music generates to their inner feelings. Some dance very good, some not so good but there are no real bad dancers, well then again you may not have seen this writers attempts. Point being that people will always have fun when live music is on hand. DJs and canned music are ok but it is the live band or entertainer that truly make things hop. Each performer puts their heart, soul and talent into what they hope will bring enjoyment to their audience. Support your local bar, tavern, pub or club that takes the extra measure to include live entertainment. “Music is the universal language of mankind.” Longfellow. Tuff Tony |
